My wonderful assistant/second, Ali Harvey, and I met with this couple on their parents’ gorgeous property just outside of Vancouver. We began to showcase this couple’s love and affection out in a field of wildflowers (ok maybe they’re weeds, but let’s just stay in the fantasy) to allow everyone to get comfortable and find the groove. We then moved to an old (but still in use) barn where couple got to have a laugh at two “city girls” attempting to climb up to the upper level, and not-so-gracefully waddle over hay bale after hay bale. Ali and I were amazed at how easily our couple maneuvered over and around everything, and were completely embarrassed by how pathetic we looked
It didn’t matter, though, because the natural light creeping into the upper loft made the trek worth it! From there, at the couple’s suggestion, we hit up some train tracks down the road. It was all fun and games until a train actually came…I couldn’t get the images of Stand By Me out of my head the rest of the day. A little adrenaline and laughter later, we were off to our final location. Unfortunately for Ali, this involved riding in the back seat of a large truck along some seriously winding, roller coaster-like roads. All I can say is I am now aware of Ali’s ability to get motion sickness fairly easily
What an adventure! I have to admit it will be one of my most memorable shoots to date. I hope you enjoy the outcome!
