I woke up in Seattle to dark stormy clouds and rain. The couple to be married woke up in Oak Harbor to a little less stormy clouds and rain. The magnificent Ali Harvey and I packed up our gear, crossed our fingers, and headed up to Oak Harbor. To our surprise, as we crossed over Deception Pass we began to see little beacons of light and hints of blue skies…ok, now we were getting excited. Could we have taken all the photographs in the church? Yes. Did we want to, especially knowing that this rockstar bride adamantly wanted to go to Deception Pass for her photos? Heck, no! We arrived to the church as the bride was getting ready, and since she didn’t want to see her groom before the ceremony, Ali stayed with her during her beautification process while I took the bridal party out in the sunshine to play. We returned to the church for their intimate, sweet, and humorous ceremony (they had two of the groom’s navy buddies as their “flower boys.”) After the emotional “I do’s” we left for our photo session out at Deception Pass and even more amazing weather. Now most brides might like to be down on the beach with the very recognizable bridge off in the distance, but not this bride. She hiked up her dress and walked the dirt and gravel paths (in her heels I might add) down the side of the hill that runs under the bridge. As she put it, “you only get to do this once; might as well do it right.” Ali and I fell in love with this couple as they canoodled and beamed with love in this amazing location. What a treat! We ended the night in the ballroom of the Chief Petty Officer’s Club where they ate, mingled and danced into the evening with their closest friends and family. Thank you for choosing Ali and I to be a part of your special day. Enjoy your peek at your photos!
