I had the pleasure of showing this couple around Seattle on this gorgeous (so lucky!) fall day. She recently moved to Seattle for a job while he finished up school. He made his way to Seattle literally the day before our shoot. What a way to reunite and be introduced to our beautiful city! He might not have been as thrilled as us girls about the cuddling in public, but he was a good sport and played along (I also believe the crisp winter air rolling in might have helped the cozying up action). Hey, I’ll take what I can get

How cute are these two? ADORABLE, right? Add in one sweet pup and I was in cuteness overload. The only thing that could literally dampen the day would be the rain that decided to roll in that morning. I sat there pouting at my rain soaked window, grab my rain coat and headed out on what I figured would be a soaking wet photo adventure.  As I arrived at our first destination, the rain slowed to a drizzle. As we began walking, it stopped. Whoo hoo! As we piled in the car for a quick cupcake break, it came back. Boo. When we arrived to the shop, it stopped again. I’m not kidding. In the car, rain. Out of the car, no rain.  On the next car adventure, it POURED. Well, I thought, at least we made it this far. We decided to attempt a couple shots and call it a day. That is, until we got out of the car and the sun came out! I’m not making this up. You can see in the reflection of the EMP that the clouds begin to break up and the sun comes out.  I now believe these amazing people are blessed with some serious luck—I asked them to touch my arms, hoping a little of it would stick to me

I was thrilled when I was contacted by this gorgeous pair to photograph their wedding next summer.  Ok, I am always thrilled at the prospect of new clients, but the excitement level goes up a bit when they are referred to me by equally awesome couples that I have already worked with. In this case, I had already even worked with this lovely lady when she was the maid of honor at her sister’s wedding this summer…double bonus! I couldn’t wait to work with her (and her fiance) again. They headed over from Spokane for this engagement session, and since they were driving across the state, we just had to roll with the weather Seattle provided. I have to say it didn’t look too promising. It rained the entire week, day, and morning before the shoot. I was bummed, but at this point I’m used to making the rain work. So, I headed out to the shoot, and as I rounded the bend in Magnolia to head into Discovery Park, I saw this small patch of blue sky hovering just over the park. I couldn’t believe that we might have picked the only sunny spot in Seattle for our session at that exact time. Needless to say, the next couple of hours provided gorgeous (and cold) blue skies with puffy white clouds. After the shoot ended, the rain eventually came back, but it didn’t matter because our timing was perfect. Enjoy!

This couple’s journey to marriage began on a Seattle Metro bus, became serious on a date through the Sculpture Park and waterfront, and has continued in their Queen Anne apartment, that just so happens to have incredible views of the city and sound, along with a human size chess board!  It seemed fitting to go on a photo journey of their story, so we did. Of course, we did hope we would get a gorgeous sunny day, but in Seattle you take what you can get, so we settled on a day without rain.  It was wonderful to go on a city adventure and see it through their eyes. This beautiful couple just recently moved to Seattle from the Midwest. In honor of their love and new home, they wanted to do engagement photos that, not only showcased their own beauty

This couple’s story is complicated and stems from a very rough, chaotic couple of years involving a death in the family. It’s not my story to tell, so I won’t, but I’m not sure that it’s the back story that actually matters. Just look at these two. Like I said, life hasn’t been easy for them, but through it all they have fallen in love and managed to stay there—the proof is in the photos

I spent a majority of this shoot cracking up with the couple. He’s not one to take himself too seriously, (at least when the camera is pointed at him) so he spent his time making faces to crack his soon-to-be-bride up, which in turn, made me laugh.  Together they kept the mood light and fun, and my only worry was that I wouldn’t be able to capture an in-focus shot due to all my camera shake from laughing.  You know it’s a good session when that is your only worry

Beautiful day. Beautiful couple. Beautiful light. Ahhh…..an engagement photographer’s own little slice of heaven.  As per the rest of this year’s sessions, we played the reschedule game for months, always landing on what ended up being the rainiest day of the week, so this evening felt like an absolute victory and celebration for us before we even began shooting. Most couples usually need a little time to warm up to the camera being on them, but not these two. They just naturally interacted with each other while I was able to sit back and document. Such a treat! Enjoy.

These two were/are just pure happiness.  They lit up with each glance at each other and never needed any coercing from me to cuddle up

I’m deeming this season “Reschedule Mania.”  Yes, I know I live in Seattle. Yes, I know it rains, but come on already, we usually get a few more glimpses of the sun than the 3 (ok, there might have been a few more) we were given this spring. A few reschedules come with the territory of living in the PNW, but this has just been out of control. When the weather is not on your side, a casual spring sprinkled with a few wedding, family and engagement shoots can become one insanely packed June, where each sunny day becomes more valuable than gold.  As luck would have it, this couple and I finally hit the jackpot after numerous reschedules, even with the window of sun (or more like, no rain) being just a couple of hours. The rain literally came rolling in just a few minutes after we finished.  A huge thanks to weather.com for finally being right!!  I’m thrilled we finally had the opportunity to work together. This has become one of my favorite sessions of my little career. Enjoy!
