Apparently my appendix didn’t enjoy being in my body.  So, a surprise trip to the ER,  quick surgery, and a week of recovery time with some TLC from my mom has left me quite a bit behind in my post production and my blogging for which I offer HUGE apologies.  The bed rest on the other hand? I thought I might go crazy, but I didn’t, and I just can’t apologize for being forced to sleep, watch movies, and eat meals prepared with love.

 It really wasn’t too hard to step back and slow down because the weather was pretty crummy and perfect for cuddling up on the couch. Now that I am back to work and  the sunshine is out in full force? That’s another story.  To keep my spirits up and to get the blogging back in action, I have created this little ode to sunshine courtesy of a few sunny memories captured on my iPhone.  I promise to be back to bringing you fun new images from my lovable clients starting next week. For now, get out and enjoy that sunshine!

I’m baaaaack.  After some holiday time, some much-needed family and friend time, some serious file organizing time, and quite a bit of blood, sweat, and tears, I am back with newly refreshed everything!  I mean it. I think I hit the refresh button on nearly everything in my world.  I know many of you really liked my old site and so did I, but it was an overused template (by many Seattle photographers) that wouldn’t allow my images to be very big….and bigger is better, right?  So, I did away with the old and created the new.  As with everything that is new in the technological world, there are always some kinks that need to be worked out.  If you find any, I would love to hear about them.  Even if you don’t find any, I would love your feedback! Thanks for all of your support.  Here’s to a fabulous 2011 and plenty of crazy new images to come!  Below is a screen shot of the splash page.

Just a quick little peek at a family session from one of Seattle’s true snow days.  When you rarely see snow in your front and back yards, it is pretty much mandatory to have a snowball fight! Enjoy!

There has been a ton of spring cleaning going on here at Jenn Repp Photography.  I thought I would take advantage of the 3 week lull in my wedding season and do some much needed organizing, sorting, backing up….all that fun stuff

 Ironically, it has been quite fun.  Crazy, right?  Well, sort of.  First of all, I find it so therapeutic to organize and clean.  Yes, that might be where the crazy comes into play.  The really fun part of all of this though, was seeing that one folder on my computer.  The folder titled “Jenn’s photos.”  This is the folder where anything I have shot that doesn’t involve a bride, groom, baby, or family goes to await my free time.  Free time, now that’s funny.  Free time or not, I have finally said enough is enough. I dug in and pulled out some photos taken last fall up on Orcas Island. I was able to escape for a quick breather and a few “unplugged” moments. It was a trip involving sleeping in, playing board games, going for walks, and of course, some photo exploration. Clearly, I was in need of sunshine from what I photographed, and if I remember correctly these few photos of sun were about all I saw. I can remember being out in the harbor as the sun was sinking its way down into the horizon when out of nowhere, a torrential downpour hit.  I stuffed my camera in my shirt and ran for the cabin. I made it, camera in tact, but soaked to the bone.  A quick change into dry clothes and I found myself out on the covered deck, relaxing with a beer, watching the rain stop and the sun peek back through the clouds to set properly……only in the Pacific Northwest can it go from torrential to peaceful just in time for sunset!  All I can say is, I cherished those few moments I had with the sun.  They inspired me then and even more now. I decided to push the color boundaries of these photos and play around in photoshop since I prefer not to go over the top in my business work. I hope you enjoy the colors and tranquility as much as I did/do!  And sunshine, if you can hear me, please come out and play.

Not only was this a chance for me to see a lovely set by Dave McGraw, it was a chance for me to also see some long lost WWU friends (Dave included).  We all lived in a pretty small (in contrast to the traditional freshmen towers) coed dorm, became friends, ventured into life, moved all over the country, and found ourselves reunited in support of this talented man.  Dave usually plays with the band Crow Wing, but this show was a beautiful acoustic set full of heart, which I believe is what draws people to him.  He is humble and modest, but can fill a room with his genuine love of music and life.  It was wonderful to finally catch his show, and I can’t wait to see him the next time around with Crow Wing.  You should check out his talent here: http://www.davemcgraw.net/
