This beautiful family not only wanted family photos for the holidays but also to commemorate their time in western Washington. They are moving away at the beginning of the year so they thought family photos surrounded by the natural beauty of our area would be a great reminder of their time spent here. I couldn’t agree more

. They were a pleasure to work with, so of course, I’m bummed they are moving away, but happy for them and the new adventures that lie ahead. Enjoy!

I met this couple years ago before these munchkins were born. Actually, I met these two before they were even a couple. Here we are years (and one adorable family) later. I am seriously in shock at how grown up these kids are…time sure does fly! I was thrilled for the opportunity to finally get their beautiful faces in front of my camera, especially since the last time they had family photos taken was years ago at their wedding. I’m looking forward to more opportunities watching these kids grow up (both with and without my camera). Let’s hope they don’t make me wait another 5-6 years

For those of you who have followed this little career that I’ve created for myself, this family probably looks a bit familiar. I’ve been lucky enough to document some of their most important life milestones….engagement>>wedding>>pregnancy>>newborn…and now their sweet family starring this gorgeous little man. Just look at those eyes! He is so handsome, and a total flirt. Mom and dad, you are in for some serious trouble

. Clearly, this little dude charmed me from the get go, but ultimately melted my heart when he picked up the word “awesome” from me. Having a 19-month-old, running around the park yelling “awesome!” solidified what an absolute rockstar he is (and the fact that I might need to start expanding my vocabulary). Here’s to the years and milestones to come! Enjoy.

On this beautiful evening I headed to Lincoln Park to take early Christmas card photos of this sweet, young couple….or at least that is what she thought we were doing. What she didn’t know was that her boyfriend was going to propose to her, and I was going to be there to capture it. I was so honored (and a bit nervous) to have been chosen to be there. Apparently, she had told him that if they ever got married, she wanted me to be their photographer *blush* So, he contacted me and we started scheming (ok, mostly he started scheming and I was just thrilled to play along). It was so crazy because as we came closer to a secluded area with good light for the actual proposal to take place, my heart started pounding, my hands began shaking, and I became sooo nervous. I think I can honestly say that I now understand 1/10 of what grooms feel and go through when they are getting ready to propose….geesh, you all now have my empathy

. Well, as you can see, she said yes, which led to both of them just beaming throughout the rest of the shoot. I really didn’t have to give them many directions because the flood of emotions these two were feeling just guided them naturally. Congratulations!!! I can’t wait for your wedding.

I first met this lovely lady way back in the day when I attended WWU (that was meant to age me, not you Julie)

Western is also where she met her handsome match, and they now live in Seattle with their beautiful one year old boy. I was super excited for the chance to reconnect, and just a little (like a millimeter) more excited to meet their little boy. I mean, come on, look at that face. We planned our outing for the evening because 1) Seattle’s best summer light is in the evening 2) that is usually when this little guy is at his happiest.

It is so important to take your kids moods into consideration when planning a photo shoot. It is best to work the shoot into their schedule and not into yours. Be aware of nap times, snack times, and traditionally cranky times because they are only going to grow exponentially worse when a stranger with a huge camera is hanging around and interrupting their routine. Also, bring a snack, bottle, pacifier, blankie…..whatever you would use to soothe your little one at home, bring it along. It always comes in handy.

So, mom was right, evenings are best for this little guy. He was literally all smiles and goofy faces. By the end, we could see he was getting tuckered out, but that was perfect. A few sips of milk, a car ride home, and it was bedtime for him and wine relaxation time for mom and dad. It was wonderful to see you both again and an absolute pleasure to meet your little one. I am looking forward to watching him grow. Enjoy!

A Walk in the Park

Sunshine!!! I was in desperate need of it and just had to get outside to enjoy this amazing early day of spring. So, I packed up the car and headed to the beach where I just happened to run into an adorable couple in need of photos…..are you buying any of this? In reality, this beautiful couple managed to schedule their engagement shoot for this absolutely glorious day. What luck! We were able to go for a walk through the park, hit the beach, play in the sunshine, and oh yeah, throw a photo shoot somewhere in the mix. It was such a great way to welcome the beginning of wedding season. Thank you for being such great models! I am looking forward to the wedding day in September. Enjoy!
