How cute are these two? ADORABLE, right? Add in one sweet pup and I was in cuteness overload. The only thing that could literally dampen the day would be the rain that decided to roll in that morning. I sat there pouting at my rain soaked window, grab my rain coat and headed out on what I figured would be a soaking wet photo adventure.  As I arrived at our first destination, the rain slowed to a drizzle. As we began walking, it stopped. Whoo hoo! As we piled in the car for a quick cupcake break, it came back. Boo. When we arrived to the shop, it stopped again. I’m not kidding. In the car, rain. Out of the car, no rain.  On the next car adventure, it POURED. Well, I thought, at least we made it this far. We decided to attempt a couple shots and call it a day. That is, until we got out of the car and the sun came out! I’m not making this up. You can see in the reflection of the EMP that the clouds begin to break up and the sun comes out.  I now believe these amazing people are blessed with some serious luck—I asked them to touch my arms, hoping a little of it would stick to me

For this wedding adventure, the lovely LaRae Lobdell and I found ourselves on a plane to Lawrence, Kansas. Kansas? Yes, Kansas. I know it’s not Hawaii or the Bahamas, but I must admit that the adorable college town of Lawrence was extremely charming and not nearly as flat as I had imagined

For this truly Seattle affair, the lovely LaRae Lobdell and I found ourselves adventuring from downtown to Queen Anne to Shilshole Bay. Since the couple’s families and friends mostly reside out of state, they wanted to show off Seattle for their “I do’s, and what better way to do so than at Ray’s Boathouse?  It serves delicious PNW fare and resides right on the water with a view of the Olympic Mountains. Of course, it couldn’t be a true Seattle experience without some gray clouds and a little rain (which held off until just after they became an official Mr. and Mrs.). How lucky!!  Even though the rain did begin to pour, it didn’t put a damper on the festivities. The tone of the evening was set by the couple, kicking off the party with a fantastic swing dance that had the crowd on their feet cheering. And if that wasn’t enough, the ladies put on a show with a little number to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” just before the bouquet toss. It was such a fun celebration that was rockin’ well after LaRae and I departed.  We had a wonderful time with this group and felt so honored to have been a part of the day. Enjoy!

P.S. If you are wondering about the photos of the groom/groomsmen holding a photo, it is the groom’s brother who is overseas. This was a surprise by the bride who really wanted him to be a part of the day

The beautiful LaRae Lobdell and I had the pleasure of venturing out to the San Juan Islands for this lovely wedding. Being that it was September in the PNW, we were prepared for a little rain, but instead we were greeted by crystal blue skies and warm sunshine. You’ve got to love a little unexpected summer break (ok, mostly a break for them since we were working, but it was still amazing to soak up some vitamin D)! The wedding day began at Rosario Resort with the ceremony up on a bluff overlooking the sound. From there, we moved to Oddfellows Hall to eat, drink, and be merry. It was a gorgeous evening for a celebration sprinkled with three heartfelt toasts, a little wine and beer, some dancing, more wine and beer, a lot more dancing, and a non traditional assortment of delicious fruit pies instead of wedding cake.  It was a destination wedding that allowed the couple to spend some time with their guests outside of the wedding day (I heard the bride’s father is a champion on the bbq), but wasn’t too far from home so that others could just swing up for the festivities.  A brilliant way to get the best of both worlds!  LaRae and I were thrilled for the brief escape from the city. This adorable bride and groom had the pleasure of having their amazing wedding location in the family. The groom grew up on these acres which provided the backdrop for a gorgeous, modern, country affair. The talented LaRae Lobdell and I were blown away by all of the thoughtful details and could barely keep it together when this stunning bride saw her groom. Her emotions were running high, as they typically are with all brides on their wedding day, however, the groom knew how to turn her tears into laughter. It was such a delight to witness! While the guest list and celebration were large, the day felt very intimate and personal since everything took place on the family property. Thank you for allowing LaRae and I to be a part such a sweet affair.  Lastly, thank you to LaRae for capturing one of my favorite images of the season (the shot from above the dance floor of the bride and groom)…so gorgeous! On this glorious Seattle summer day (we only had a few this summer so it was big deal to get this one

Where do I begin with this wedding? The absolutely adorable couple who completely light up when they see each other? The beautiful location (Genesis Farm and Gardens) and day? The vivid colors? Or the amazing details all dreamt up and created by the couple themselves? (ok, she might have been the mastermind but he did help out!).  I think I might just let the photos do the talking on this one, but I must sincerely thank the coupl, their friends, and of course the fabulous day-of planners Red Letter Events for all of their hard work making this wedding such a gorgeous affair–it was a wedding photographer’s paradise

I know it’s cliche to describe a wedding as a “fairy tale” wedding, but in this case, I just don’t care. It’s nearly impossible to look at this AMAZING property without hoping to turn a corner and see prince charming strolling along with his beautiful white horse. Beautiful venue aside, the fairy tale continues on in the stunning beauty of this modern day prince and princess. No, there wasn’t a white horse, but there was true love, and instead of a fire-breathing dragon we got to witness the surprise gift of fire twirling by one of the bride’s friends–incredible! It was a day of so many personal touches, ear-to-ear smiles, tears, and joyous celebration.  Ali Harvey and I were thrilled to travel to Portland for such a fabulous occasion. Enjoy!

The sun finally graced the PNW with its presence bathing Newcastle Golf Course and the lucky guests of this wedding in a warm golden glow as they mingled with cocktails in hand.  As far as summer evening weddings go, I’m not sure if there is a more beautiful location for taking in the majestic views of the greater Seattle area.  Having met at the University of Washington and spending their entire coupledom in Seattle, there really didn’t seem like a better choice of location for this gorgeous couple (not to mention most of the boys of this group love to golf). It was a lovely affair filled with tears, laughter, and WIND.  I was loving the visuals the wind was creating for me, however, I don’t think the bride with her long, curled locks was quite the fan I was

Now, I’m not going to lie and say that shooting a 13 hour day was easy and just flew by (my old body constantly reminds me of the tortures I put it through), but I can say that working with such an accommodating bridal party, family, venue, and couple really made the experience absolutely enjoyable. It all began when we packed the twelve of us into a van with some snacks and set out on a photo adventure from Seattle to The Plateau Club in Sammamish. We stopped at the usual Seattle hot spots and were greeted on the top of Queen Anne by Seattle’s version of the “running with the bulls.”  There was food, beer, and sangria (most were wearing running shoes so it’s possible they did run at some point).  They treated the bridal party like rockstars and were thrilled to have their photo taken with them.

Once we made our way to the wedding venue, the day continued filled with tears, laughter, a few more tears, and plenty of personal touches (my favorite being the tennis shoe key chain attached to the bride’s bouquet in memory of her late father).  The night ended with some serious dancing and an exit through sparklers–who doesn’t love to play with fire (especially after drinking all night
